Alleged Armed Suspect Shot by Deputies in Santa Clarita

NEWHALL, SANTA CLARITA, CA, July 4 (KNN) — A male adult suspected by sheriff’s deputies of being armed was shot in a Santa Clarita neighborhood as fireworks rang out.

The deputy-involved shooting took place shortly before 11:45 p.m. Tuesday amid a gun call on the 24200 block of Arch Street, south of Market Street, in Newhall.

The moments leading up to the shooting remain unclear.

It also remains unclear if this is related to an earlier suspected gang shooting involving a suspect yelling “Newhall” when they opened fire on a victim.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau, the suspect was struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital. No deputies were injured at this time.

Due to department protocol involving deputy-involved shootings, there is no additional information at this time.
