Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lakewood Station deputies received a call for service shortly before 12:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, on the 5700 block of Lakewood Boulevard.

Jack in the Box employees advised there was an unresponsive male inside a sedan in the middle of a drive thru, not moving.

When employees went to check on the man, they spotted a black handgun sitting on the suspect’s lap.

Deputies arrived and placed spike strips at the end of the drive-thru and formulated a plan to contact the individual. They tried numerous PA announcements and siren blips, however, attempts were unsuccessful in waking up the man.

Deputies eventually made a tactical approach on the vehicle, which had an open window, and immediately took the driver into custody without incident.

A gun was quickly recovered from the suspect, and can be seen being handled by deputies in Key News Network video at the scene.

No injuries were reported.
