PEARBLOSSOM, Calif., Feb. 24 (KNN) — A man reported to be armed with a knife was fatally shot by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Palmdale Station deputies responding to an assault with a deadly weapon call early Friday morning in Pearblossom, located near Palmdale.
According to Lt. Patricia Thomas, detective with the LASD, Palmdale Station deputies responded to the intersection of Pearblossom Highway and Longview Road around 6:45 a.m. regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. A person with a knife was reported to be making threats at one of the businesses.
The caller provided a description of the suspect and when deputies arrived, they searched for the suspect until they encountered him which ultimately led to a shooting.
A weapon was recovered at the location where the deputy-involved shooting occurred. The suspect’s weapon was only described as a “sharp object” by Thomas.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. Thomas described the suspect as a White male, around 30 years old.
No further details have been released at this time during the ongoing investigation.
