Van Nuys, Los Angeles, CA: The Los Angeles Fire Department was on the scene of a commercial structure fire with potential to spread to nearby units and a mobile home park in the Van Nuys neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley Wednesday afternoon.
Firefighters initiated an offensive attack on the flames when they arrived at the location on the 7800 block of North Balboa Boulevard around 1:30 p.m., Dec. 28.
Flames were showing through the roof of a clothing business within a one-story commercial building, according to LAFD. Multiple businesses are housed within the structure.
LAFD achieved knockdown of the flames in 36 minutes with 76 firefighters on scene and no injuries reported, according to the department.
“The fire destroyed the unit of origin and the extent of damage to the adjacent units is being determined. The exposed mobile home / RVs were defended from damage. LAFD Arson section is responding for the investigation,” LAFD stated in an update.
