Palmdale, Los Angeles County, CA: The Los Angeles County Fire Department suspects arson is the possible cause of a residential fire that occurred late Monday afternoon, Mar. 7, 2022.

LACoFD engines 129, 135, 136 and engine 37 responded to a residential structure fire on the 1200 block of Westlake Drive in West Palmdale around 4:32 p.m.

Witnesses said a black sedan was seen leaving the scene of the fire just before they saw flames. A canister containing gasoline was found at the location and fire officials did confirm the suspicion of arson.

Arson investigators were dispatched to the scene and had not arrived at the time of this report. It also has not been determined if any persons were inside the location. AMR ambulance was present at the location.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies from Palmdale station were on the scene and also actively following up on leads in this investigation.
