STUDIO CITY, LOS ANGELES, Apr. 7 (KNN) — A suspect was taken into custody for an “assault with a deadly weapon” on a Los Angeles Police Department officer responding to a street takeover in Hollywood Friday night, according to authorities.
Around 1:30 a.m., LAPD officers responded to a street takeover involving approximately 200 vehicles, according to a caller in the area of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue in Hollywood, said Officer Lee, spokesperson for the LAPD.
An incident occurred of an assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer when the LAPD arrived at the scene, which prompted a short pursuit of the suspect with officers requesting backup.
Patrol units chased the suspect to the dead end of Lankershim Boulevard in Studio City where the suspect took off on foot into the hills wearing a red hoodie.
The LAPD set up a perimeter and called for a K-9 Unit to respond to the scene that ultimately located the suspect.
The suspect was then taken into custody.
