LONG BEACH, Calif., May 5 (KNN) — Gunfire erupted at a nightclub leaving at least seven people wounded in the city of Long Beach late Saturday night.
The Long Beach Police Department and fire department received several calls around 11:15 p.m. regarding a shooting reportedly at Prendido De Noche Nightclub in the 2600 block of East South Street.
Officers and Long Beach firefighters responded to the area of South Street and Paramount Boulevard and located multiple gunshot victims upon arrival at the location.
Allison Gallagher, Executive Communications Officer for the Long Beach Police Department, briefed KNN on-camera regarding the shooting incident. Gallagher said that at this time, they are aware of approximately seven victims who all sustained gunshot wounds. The victims either transported themselves to a hospital or were transported by the LBFD to local area hospitals.
Preliminary information indicates three patients sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and four are in critical condition, according to Gallagher.
The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. At this point, suspect information and motive are under investigation. Detectives are on the scene investigating, resulting in a closure of South Street for a long period of time. Residents are recommended to avoid the area.
