HOLLYWOOD HILLS, LOS ANGELES, June 12 (KNN) — The theft of an ATM machine from inside a liquor store involved a U-Haul truck early Wednesday morning.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division units responded to a burglary in progress shortly before 4:30 a.m. at House of Ambrose Wine & Spirits located in the 3300 block of Barham Boulevard in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Reports indicated that a U-Haul truck backed up and smashed into the front of the liquor store.
Actor Todd Hoffman, a witness to the burglary, spoke to the news media on camera and said he heard “this giant BAM!” He said at first, he thought it was an accident because the cars speed down the street all day and night.
Hoffman said he looked outside and saw a truck heading into the liquor store and heard people yelling at each other. Hoffman saw the suspects carry out, what he believed to be, the ATM. He then called the police.
The suspects fled toward Burbank, according to Hoffman.
A spokesperson for the LAPD told KNN that there were no suspects in custody at this time and the incident is being investigated.
