The Claremont Police Department received a 911 call around 2:10 a.m. from a homeowner in the 700 block of Via Montevideo Street, who reported a bear in their kitchen.

The homeowner had walked into his kitchen because he was baking cookies and noticed the bear in the kitchen.

Claremont PD responded to the residence and found the bear outside in the backyard. The bear managed to enter the residence through a screen door and exit through a second screen door.

Per the homeowner, he had the kitchen windows open as he was baking.

The bear was observed afterward just hanging out in the residence’s backyard.

The homeowner was not hurt, and the bear was not injured during the break-in.
