Big Rig Fire Shuts Down 5 Freeway Truck Route in Sylmar

SYLMAR, LOS ANGELES, Apr. 12 (KNN) — A big rig erupted into flames on the 5 Freeway Thursday night resulting in the closure of the truck route in the area of Sylmar.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department and California Highway Patrol officers responded to a reported big rig fire around 9:16 p.m. on the 5 Freeway north truck route before the 14 Freeway.

Firefighters knocked down the flames with no reported injuries. The truck route transition from northbound 5 was closed during the incident.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
