Big Rig Jackknifes in Stormy Weather on 5 Freeway Truck Route

SYLMAR, LOS ANGELES, Aug. 20 (KNN) — A solo big rig jackknifed blocking all lanes of traffic Sunday morning on the northbound I-5 truck route to the 14 Freeway.

The California Highway Patrol issued a Sig Alert and Caltrans shut down the freeway shortly after 10 a.m. due to the incident, from the 118 West to the I-5 in the Sylmar area. Remnants of Hurricane Hilary began soaking parts of the Southland by that time.

Some vehicles and big rigs were making a U-turn and coming back down the wrong way to get back to I-5 North.

No injuries were reported at the time of this report. A heavy duty tow truck arrived to clear the scene.
