Big Rig Solo Crash into Center Divider Prompts 5 Freeway SigAlert

Sylmar, Los Angeles, CA: A big rig was involved in a solo traffic collision southbound 5 Freeway just south of Sierra Highway in the truck lanes Thursday night in the Sylmar area of the San Fernando Valley. The big rig collided into the center divider extending over to the northbound side.

The collision was reported Dec. 1, at approximately 10:19 p.m. per California Highway Patrol.

A hard closure was issued on southbound lanes forcing all drivers to exit on Sierra Highway. One lane of traffic on the northbound 5 Freeway was also closed for the safety of other drivers.

Castaic CHP is investigating the incident.

Rain may have been a factor in the crash as it was raining at the time of the incident.
