Bomb Scare Delays Outgoing Flight at LAX American Airlines Terminal

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 10 (KNN) — Authorities responded to a bomb scare at the Los Angeles International Airport late Monday evening, involving an American Airlines passenger plane at Terminal 5.

According to LAX Media Relations late Monday night, there was a bomb scare involving an outgoing plane at AA Terminal 5 reported at 8 p.m. Details regarding the incident after the situation was deemed closed close to midnight, were not available from LAX. However, Key News Network was told there was no significant threat to the passengers or the plane and it was expected to depart shortly.

Multiple law enforcement agencies descended upon the airport at the time of the reported scare that also included the Los Angeles Police Department’s Bomb Squad observed at the location.

KNN reached out to American Airlines for additional information regarding the incident.

The airline promptly responded via email shortly after 3:30 a.m. Tuesday with the following statement: “Prior to departure, American Eagle flight 4888 operated by SkyWest Airlines, with service from Los Angeles (LAX) to Sacramento (SMF), returned to the gate and was met by law enforcement due to a possible security issue. We never want to disrupt our customers’ travel plans and appreciate their understanding.”

American Airlines also added that the flight departed just after midnight local time.

There are no further details.
