Brush Fire Burns Acres in Corona

CORONA, Calif., June 25 (KNN) — Riverside County firefighters were working to contain and extinguish a brush fire in Corona Monday afternoon.

Riverside County Fire Department personnel were dispatched around 3 p.m. to the area of the 800 block of Mandevilla Way in regard to a brush fire with structures threatened.

Firefighters arrived on scene and noticed a hillside on fire with flames headed straight toward homes. The fire jumped Mandevilla Way and headed toward Via Blairo.

At that time, the incident commander requested water dropping helicopters and additional fire resources to the fire. Corona Police Department officers began to evacuate homes in the area.

It does not appear any homes were lost as of late Monday afternoon. No Injuries were reported thus far. Firefighters will remain on scene to continue to fight this fire.

The fire was last reported to be at 11.5 acres. There were no further updates as of late Monday night.

Cal Fire Riverside, Corona Fire Department and the Corona Police Department are the handling agencies.
