Burn Victim Rescued From Lancaster Apartment Unit Fire

LANCASTER, CA, Aug. 25 (KNN) — A burn victim was discovered after firefighters forced entry into an apartment unit for a reported fire.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the 1800 block of West Avenue J12 in Lancaster for a reported residential fire shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday.

Upon arrival, firefighters were able to locate the unit of the reported fire with no smoke showing.

They attempted to make contact with someone inside and were unsuccessful.

Firefighters received authorization to force entry and at that point, black smoke emitted from the unit.

Firefighters doused the flames and as the smoke cleared, they learned that at least one person was inside the unit with burns covering 90% of his body.

The victim was transported to a local area hospital in critical condition.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No other victims were reported injured during this incident.
