Montclair, San Bernardino County, CA: Catalytic converter theft suspects led police on a chase and were ultimately taken into custody at the end of pursuit with police locating catalytic converters in the vehicle.

Claremont Police Department located a van driving around the Pomona area stealing catalytic converters in the early morning hour of Thursday, Dec. 22.

Once the Claremont PD officer attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled from the officer entering the eastbound 10 Freeway from Indian Hill Boulevard in the city of Claremont.

The suspect continued eastbound on the 10 Freeway into the city of Ontario turning around at Haven Avenue. The suspect drove back onto the westbound 10 Freeway, exiting at Central Avenue in the Montclair area.

The suspects drove into the Costco parking lot off of Central Avenue just south of the 10 Freeway and fled on foot.

Claremont PD was able to take the driver into custody immediately.

The second suspect was taken into custody with the assistance of Montclair PD and Claremont PD a block from the scene.

Claremont PD located four catalytic converters, a jack, some tools and one BB gun inside the van.
