SIMI VALLEY, Calif., Jan. 2 (KNN) — A large meteor was captured on video via a Ring camera falling in the southern sky above Simi Valley shortly after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The meteor is possibly linked to the Quadrantids meteor shower, one of the most potentially intense annual meteor displays of the year, depending on the weather. It is currently active and expected to peak on Jan. 3, according to sources.
Southern California sky-watchers will best observe the meteor shower in the pre-dawn hours.
According to the American Meteor Society website, Quadrantids will be active until Jan. 16, 2025. Its span of activity began on Dec. 26, 2024.
The website also lists upcoming meteor showers for the entire year.
