CHP Officers Save Dog on 10 Freeway in Covina, Returns to Family on Christmas Eve

COVINA, Calif., Dec. 26 (KNN) – A dog reported in lanes on the 10 Freeway in Covina late Tuesday night was ultimately captured by California Highway Patrol officers and returned to its owners.

CHP officers from the Baldwin Park Area Office received multiple 911 calls of a German Shepherd wandering around in lanes of the eastbound 10 Freeway near Via Verde.

CHP received additional 911 calls of the dog running westbound and eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway at Via Verde.

The German Shepherd was located by officers who took the dog into custody and put the canine in the back seat of their unit.

Officers located the dog’s tag, called its owners and returned the dog safely to the homeowners in Pomona.

A KNN video journalist spoke to the homeowners off-camera, who were very happy that CHP went out of their way to return their dog home safely on Christmas Eve.
