CHP Pursuit Suspect Hides in Family Member’s Home in Rialto

Rialto, San Bernardino County, CA: A pursuit that was initiated in West Covina for a speeding van ended Friday morning, Jan. 6, just before 1:30 a.m. at a home in the city of Rialto belonging to a family member of the suspect.

California Highway Patrol Baldwin Park Station officers attempted to pull over a van for high speed overnight on the eastbound 10 Freeway at Grand Avenue in the city of West Covina in Los Angeles County.

The suspect fled and led officers on a chase to reportedly his mother’s house located on the 1400 block of Lorraine Place in the city of Rialto in San Bernardino County.

An Ontario Police Department helicopter was overhead assisting CHP with the pursuit.

The suspect parked the van and took off on foot into the backyard of the residence, leaving a backpack in the yard.

Rialto Police Department responded to the scene and assisted CHP with the perimeter and possible barricade.

Family members inside the residence including an elderly male exited the house.

After about 30 minutes of searching, CHP along with Rialto PD succeeded in taking the driver of the van into custody along with a possible female passenger.

CHP also located a gun at the termination of the pursuit.
