CHP Unit Overturns in Crash on 105 Freeway in Willowbrook

WILLOWBROOK, Calif., Dec. 16 (KNN) — Two California Highway Patrol officers were injured when their vehicle overturned in a crash on the eastbound I-105 west of Wilmington Avenue in Willowbrook.

CHP West Los Angeles officers observed a speeding Dodge Challenger in excess of 120 miles per hour on the 105 Freeway at approximately 2:52 a.m. Monday, according to the CHP news release of the incident. CHP officers were attempting to overtake the speeding vehicle when they crashed into an attenuator.

“As a result of the crash, they overturned in the patrol vehicle. The suspect vehicle continued traveling in an easterly direction,” stated the release. CHP Officer Steven Salas told KNN that the CHP officers were not in pursuit of the vehicle.

The two officers involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment.

A Sig Alert was issued for approximately three hours.

According to the CHP, no other vehicles were involved in the crash. The CHP West Los Angeles Area office is currently investigating the incident.
