SAN GABRIEL, CA, June 11 (KNN) – A commercial building under construction in San Gabriel erupted into a four-alarm fire early Sunday morning.
The San Gabriel Fire Department received a call for a commercial fire with heavy flames and smoke showing just before 3:30 a.m. on the 400 block of East Valley Boulevard at the intersection of Valley and Euclid Avenue.
Firefighters arrived to find a building under construction fully engulfed in flames. The fire was upgraded to a four-alarm fire. Firefighters from other agencies responded. A total of 90 firefighters were reported to be on scene, according to the SGFD.
The SGFD is asking motorists to avoid Valley Boulevard between Del Mar Avenue and San Gabriel until further notice due to the fire. Firefighters have gained control of the flames and no injuries were reported as of around 6:30 a.m.
An update will follow according to the fire department.
