Santa Clarita, Los Angeles County, CA: A truck was discovered crashed down a steep embankment late Monday afternoon prompting a rescue response for a victim by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
A fire department unit came across a white truck around 4:36 p.m., May 29, that had rolled over the side about 200 feet down a cliff on Sand Canyon Road below Bear Divide in Santa Clarita, per California Highway Patrol’s initial information regarding the incident.
CHP confirmed one person was trapped and fire department personnel was with the patient. One patient was transported in unknown condition about 4:50 p.m. by LACoFD helicopter 22.
Both sides of Sand Canyon were blocked for about 40 minutes while fire department personnel conducted the extrication and transport of the patient.
There were two parties observed climbing the steep terrain with a firefighter, however, it is unknown if they were also inside the truck at the time of the crash.
Montrose and Malibu Search and Rescue also responded to the incident.
