Daytime Deadly Shooting During Altercation at Hookah Lounge

Valley Glen, Los Angeles, CA: A daytime shooting at a hookah lounge left multiple victims wounded, one fatally, around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday in the Valley Glen neighborhood within the San Fernando Valley.

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the shooting on 13000 block of Victory Boulevard where multiple shooting victims were discovered at the Sky hookah lounge.

One victim was reported to have been shot three times in the chest and was transported by paramedics to a local hospital in unknown condition.

Officer Drake Madison with LAPD Media Relations reported an update Thursday morning as to how the shooting unfolded at the location. A 23-year-old male and 42-year-old male were involved in an altercation with three to four male suspects. During the altercation, the suspects and victims produced guns. The suspects and the 23-year-old male fired the guns at one another multiple times.

Madison stated the victims were struck by gunfire and transported by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital, where the 23-year-old male was later pronounced dead. The 42-year-old male was treated and later released.

The suspects fled in a vehicle to an unknown location, according to Madison. It is unknown if the incident is gang related.

A large front window of the lounge was shattered by gunfire, with glass seen scattered all over the ground.

More than 10 shell casings were observed on the ground along with a bullet hole in the rear window of a vehicle parked in front of the business.

LAPD officers placed a perimeter around the crime scene. A police airship circled overhead as officers investigated the shooting.
