Downtown Los Angeles, CA: Demonstrators gathered in Downtown Los Angeles Friday evening protesting outrage over the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols at the hands of Memphis Police Department officers reportedly during a traffic stop earlier this month.
Footage was released Friday, Jan. 27, from officer worn body cam during the incident sparked outrage nationwide. Protests are expected to continue.
In Downtown Los Angeles late Friday evening, protests began fairly peacefully until some demonstrators clashed with police officers.
Objects were seen thrown at police vehicles passing through a crowd, and a metal barricade was observed scattered on the ground.
At LAPD headquarters, the word “Kills” was spray painted in red on the building’s wall directly below “Los Angeles Police Department” as seen in video by Key News Network from the location.
A large group of officers responded to the streets in an attempt to contain the crowd. LAPD officers came face to face with protestors.
The protests Friday night continued for an unknown period of time.
