Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station units responded to a deputy-involved crash after a 911 caller found a marked LASD SEB SUV abandoned in the bushes on the side of a road. Shortly before 9:30 p.m., arriving deputies confirmed the sheriff’s department SUV had crashed on Pico Canyon Road west of Stevenson Ranch Parkway but could not locate any deputies.
A containment was launched and the area was locked down as units combed a wooded area in search of their missing deputy. California Highway Patrol’s Newhall Station units also responded to the scene.
The deputy was located at a nearby home about a mile from the crash scene and was rushed to a nearby trauma center. The cause of the crash remains unclear and is under investigation at this time.
