Dog Rescued From Apartment Complex Fire, Families Displaced

Bakersfield, Kern County, CA: A dog was rescued by firefighters from a burning apartment complex that displaced multiple families late afternoon Wednesday in the city of Bakersfield.

Bakersfield Fire Department received multiple calls around 4:15 p.m., Dec. 14, for an apartment complex fire on 6th Street and Union Avenue.

A tenant’s dog was still inside the structure when firefighters arrived. Firefighters made entry and located a small, unresponsive dog and immediately rendered aid. The dog responded to treatment and was seen bundled in a blanket in the arms of its apparent owner.

All occupants of the complex were accounted for and safe.

Multiple families were displaced due to the extent of the fire. Red Cross assistance was requested.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
