MISSION HILLS, LOS ANGELES, Mar. 12 (KNN) — A guyed wire fell onto high voltage lines from pole to pole causing a power outage early Tuesday morning in the Mission Hills neighborhood.
The incident occurred at the intersection of San Fernando Mission Boulevard and Sharp Avenue. A second nearby report of wires down in the 14600 block of MacNeil Street was possibly related.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and immediately closed pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the area due to power lines down in the roadway.
Multiple homes could be seen in the surrounding area without power. The LAFD requested the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power to the location.
The LADWP was at the scene working to repair the power lines at of the time of this report. The total number of customers reported by the LADWP to be without power was 284, and the estimated time for restored power was 4:30 a.m.
Dash camera footage at the time of the incident shows the sky lighting up when the guyed wire fell potentially causing the outage.
