SAN DIMAS, CA, June 12 (KNN) – A Mercedes caught fire after crashing into the center divider of the southbound 57 Freeway just before the 10 freeway split around 12:53 a.m. Sunday in the area of the city of San Dimas.
A second vehicle, a white Toyota, swerved to miss hitting the black Mercedes and crashed into a light pole on the right shoulder of southbound 57 before the 10 Freeway, temporarily trapping the driver.
Los Angeles County firefighters freed the driver from the crashed vehicle and transported the patient to Pomona Valley Hospital in unknown condition.
The driver of the black Mercedes was assessed by firefighter/paramedics and cleared at the scene.
It is unknown at this time what led to the first crash.
California Highway Patrol units responded to the scene and will be investigating the crashes.
