Driver Extricated From Vehicle After Head-On Crash Into Pole

BAKERSFIELD, CA, July 24 (KNN) — A driver was trapped in need of rescue after a solo vehicle crash into a pole Monday night.

The single-vehicle collision was reported shortly before 11 p.m. on Union and 8th Street in the city of Bakersfield.

Responding Bakersfield Fire Department crews used hydraulic tools to extricate the driver pinned inside the wrecked vehicle.

After about 30 minutes, firefighters were able to successfully free the patient who was then immediately transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

Bakersfield police officers had southbound traffic at Union and California shut down at the time of the crash.
