RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif., Dec. 12 (KNN) – A FedEx truck traveling southbound on the 15 Freeway late Wednesday was struck by a driver who fled the scene and left the vehicle behind.
The California Highway Patrol responded to a traffic collision on the I-15 South just north of Fourth Street at 11:00 p.m. Upon arrival, a red sedan was found disabled in lanes and observed with major damage. A FedEx semi-truck and trailer were also found disabled in the far right lane, with damage and leaking fluids onto southbound lanes.
According to CHP information, a person was reported driving a red sedan recklessly at speeds of up to 90 miles per hour on the freeway prior to the crash.
The driver of the red sedan fled the scene after colliding with a FedEx truck. Therefore, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded and began to search for the suspect.
A Sig Alert was issued for lanes 2, 3, and 4 of the I-15 South, which caused traffic delays.
The driver of the FedEx truck was outside the vehicle speaking with fire personnel and initially appeared to have no injuries to report.
The driver of the red sedan was not located, and the collision is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
