POMONA, Calif., Oct. 25 (KNN) — A vehicle slammed into the back of a parked semi-trailer on the 71 Freeway overnight, leaving the driver injured and transported to a hospital.
The traffic collision occurred on the southbound 71 Freeway at Mission Boulevard in Pomona shortly after midnight Friday morning.
California Highway Patrol officers from the Baldwin Park Area office, Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel and Pomona police officers responded to the scene. They found a wrecked vehicle jammed under a semi-trailer, with the driver out of the car with major injuries to the head.
The semi-trailer was parked on the right shoulder of the southbound 71 Freeway when the vehicle rear-ended the trailer at high speeds.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition, and the driver of the semi was uninjured.
CHP had only the right lane closed at the time of the incident. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
