Driver Injured in Solo Crash Off 105 Freeway

NORWALK, CA, July 26 (KNN) — A pickup truck driver apparently failed to navigate coming to a stop at the end of a freeway off-ramp, sending the vehicle into a guardrail in close proximity to a commercial building early Wednesday morning.

Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Norwalk deputies and firefighters from Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a “vehicle versus building” traffic collision call shortly before 1:30 a.m. at Studebaker Road and the I-105 Freeway in Norwalk.

A pickup truck was traveling east on the I-105 when the driver failed to stop at the end of the freeway.

A guardrail kept the truck from plowing into the abandoned medical building that sits at the end of the freeway. No other injuries or vehicles were involved.

The fire department conducted a medical evaluation of the driver and then transported him to a local area hospital. The driver was talking and appeared stable, but other than that, his condition is unknown, said Sgt. Sean Kennedy with the LASD Norwalk Station interviewed at the scene.

Kennedy said that in the three and a half years he’s been working the area, the pickup truck is about the fifteenth car he has seen hit the structure.

The cause of the collision is under investigation by the LASD Norwalk Station.
