BAKERSFIELD, Calif., Jan. 6 (KNN) — A fatal vehicle crash occurred late Saturday night on the southbound lanes of Highway 99, about a mile south of Highway 223 in Bakersfield.
The crash, reported at 11:11 p.m., involved a vehicle colliding with a tree, briefly igniting both the car and nearby brush.
Kern County Fire Department responded to the scene to handle medical and fire-related efforts.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash. No road closures were reported following the incident.
Initial reports indicate the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
