DUI Driver Arrested After Rollover Crash in Bakersfield Leaves Passenger Seriously Injured

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., June 30 (KNN) — A driver will be taken into custody for DUI after medically cleared following a rollover crash that has seriously injured the passenger, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

The single-vehicle crash occurred shortly before midnight Saturday at the intersection of Panama Lane and Buena Vista Road in the city of Bakersfield.

Bakersfield police officers were dispatched to the location and found an overturned vehicle upon arrival, with two patients trapped. The adult female passenger suffered major injuries as a result of the crash.

Firefighters extricated the patients using heavy power tools, including the Jaws of Life.

The female was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, reported the Bakersfield PD in a press release.

Bakersfield PD’s preliminary investigation revealed that the adult male driver was found to be intoxicated. Upon being medically cleared, the driver will be booked into the Lerdo Jail for DUI causing injury (felony) and driving without a license, according to the department’s press release.
