Edmonston Fire Burns 500 Acres in Kern County

Kern County, CA: Kern County Fire Department responded to reports of a brush fire just after 4:15 p.m. Thursday, May 19, just south of Edmonston Pumping Plant located south of the California Aqueduct leading to the pump plant. First arriving units reported 150 acres with moderate rate of spread. As of 7 p.m., the fire was at 400 acres with 0% containment.

The PIO for Kern County Fire Department said 100 personnel are on ground as well as helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft fighting the fire. “Wind is definitely a factor for this fire,” he said.

Kern County Fire reported via Twitter that Cal Fire was assisting in controlling the wildland grass fire which was reported at over 500 acres and 10% contained at around 9:00 p.m.

The fire has spread to 682 acres with 20% containment, reported Kern County Fire around 7:15 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2022.
