NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES, June 2 (KNN) — An elderly woman was rescued from a burning apartment unit by Los Angeles Police Department officers overnight.
LAPD officers called for assistance from the Los Angeles Fire Department around 12:44 a.m. for a burning unit located in the 5900 block of Tujunga Avenue in North Hollywood. LAPD officers observed black smoke and fire coming from a unit at the location.
Officers used forced entry to open the door and remove one of the residents of the unit. According to witnesses at the location, the cats seen in a crate outside were from the burning unit.
LAFD paramedics transported an elderly woman to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.
There was no immediate information regarding the cause of the fire.
