The body of Deputy Clinkunbroomer was escorted by sheriff’s patrol vehicles as the fire department and law enforcement officers lined the roadway in the area of the coroner’s office for one final salute to the fallen deputy just after 2 a.m. Sunday.

Family and friends also joined in the procession and were present when the deputy arrived at the medical examiner’s office.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy was found shot in his patrol vehicle Saturday evening and rushed to Antelope Valley Medical Center in critical condition where he was later pronounced deceased.

Initial reports indicate the wounded deputy was transported to the medical center around 6 p.m. by responding deputies from Lancaster and Palmdale stations.

The shooting occurred in the area of the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station on the 700 block of East Avenue Q in the city of Palmdale.

Sheriff Luna said in a press conference late Saturday night that a good Samaritan found the deputy and immediately called the Palmdale station. Deputy Clinkunbroomer, 30, was a field training officer with the department, according to Luna.

Luna stated this was an ambush and murder of an LASD deputy and is seeking the public’s help in locating the suspect(s) responsible. He encouraged anyone with information regarding the fatal shooting of the deputy to call Los Angeles Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477), or LASD Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.

The investigation is ongoing.
