Fatal Collision Shuts Down Major Boulder Highway for Hours in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev., Mar. 2 (KNN) – A vehicle collision resulted in the death of one driver, marking the 32nd traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year, stated the department’s press release.

The incident occurred around 1:10 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Boulder Highway and Dalhart Avenue, per the release regarding the collision.

According to evidence at the scene, witness statements, and video surveillance, a Hyundai Sonata was stopped for a posted stop sign while traveling westbound on Dalhart Avenue. A Chrysler 300 was approaching from the north on Boulder Highway in the left travel lane.

The release stated that as the Hyundai began to move westbound into the intersection, it was struck on the driver’s side by the Chrysler, causing both vehicles to be redirected into the southbound travel lanes.

According to the LVMPD, emergency medical personnel transported both drivers to Sunrise Trauma for advanced care. Despite lifesaving measures, the driver of the Hyundai succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Chrysler driver exhibited no signs of impairment and sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section continues investigating the incident.
