WOODLAND HILLS, LOS ANGELES, Dec. 30 (KNN) — A fatal shooting of an armed man involving the Los Angeles Police Department’s Topanga Division officers late Sunday night remains under investigation at this time.
The incident unfolded when LAPD officers responded to a man with a gun radio call at a motel around 10:15 p.m. in the 21700 block of Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills. According to the LAPD, as officers arrived at the scene, they encountered the armed suspect, and an officer-involved shooting occurred.
After the shooting, the suspect ran from officers, and a perimeter was established with a response from SWAT and Metro K-9. The LAPD reported that the male adult suspect was located in the motel suffering from gunshot wounds. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and determined the suspect to be deceased.
According to the LAPD, the suspect’s weapon was recovered at the scene and will be booked as evidence. No officers or citizens were injured.
Ventura Boulevard from Don Pio to Canoga was closed for the investigation, according to authorities.
