GORMAN, Calif., Oct. 3 (KNN) — A single-vehicle crash off the freeway in the unincorporated area of Gorman sparked a large brush fire Wednesday night.
Los Angeles County Fire Department crews responded to a reported brush fire on the southbound I-5 Freeway, east of the Gorman School Road exit, around 10 p.m.
When units arrived, they found a solo vehicle that had launched off the side of the freeway and into a ditch, igniting a fire that spread to the mountainside. Per CHP, the occupant inside the vehicle was deceased.
The fire has burned approximately 13 acres. Ground crews and air support continue to battle the blaze dubbed the “Frazier Fire.”
