Father Arrested in Deadly Shooting of 10-Year-Old Son in Compton

COMPTON, Calif., Dec. 2 (KNN) — The biological father of a 10-year-old boy has been arrested in the shooting death of the juvenile, which occurred over the weekend, reported the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Information Bureau (SIB) in a news release on Monday.

Deputies from the Compton Sheriff’s Sation responded to a call for a gunshot victim at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, in the 15000 block of South Haskins Avenue in the city of Compton.

Arriving deputies located a male juvenile in the backyard of the residence suffering from a gunshot wound to his body, according to the SIB. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“Through investigation, detectives identified the juvenile’s biological father, 32-year-old Nicholas Jones of Compton, as a suspect. Detectives arrested Jones on Dec. 1, 2024, for murder and child abuse resulting in death. Jones was booked at East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station,” stated the news release.

According to the SIB, the investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is available.
