BAKERSFIELD, Calif., Jan. 28 (KNN) — A female pedestrian was struck by a hit-and-run driver who left the victim lying injured in the roadway late Saturday night.
The collision occurred just before 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of 4th and V streets in the city of Bakersfield where responding Bakersfield police officers found an adult female with major injuries down in the roadway.
Responding paramedics rushed to treat the patient and quickly transported her by ambulance to a local hospital. The BPD said she is listed in critical condition.
The preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a dark colored pick-up truck was driving northbound in the 300 block of V Street and collided with the pedestrian, who was in the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk. The driver and vehicle fled the scene, stated the BPD in a press release of the incident.
Speed limit in the 300 block of V Street is 25 miles per hour. The street is aligned in a north/south direction with both commercial and residential properties adjacent to the roadway, added the BPD.
The investigation is ongoing.
