LYNWOOD, Calif., Aug. 1 (KNN) — A female who reportedly exited a vehicle and was walking in a lane on the 105 Freeway early Thursday morning was struck and killed by a passing motorist.
The California Highway Patrol East Los Angeles units responded to multiple reports around 1:42 a.m. regarding a female walking in the slow lane of the westbound 105 Freeway just west of the 710 in the Lynwood area.
Per initial reports, the female was traveling in a vehicle with her boyfriend while having an argument.
At some point the boyfriend pulled over, she exited the vehicle on the freeway and was ultimately struck by another vehicle. It is unclear at this time if that vehicle remained at the scene.
The female was pronounced deceased. CHP has only identified the pedestrian as 28-year-old “Jane Doe”. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
According to the CHP’s news release of the incident, a 2021 Lexus driven by a 32-year-old man had struck the female and remained at the scene. The circumstances regarding how this crash occurred are still under investigation.
The transition to the westbound 105 Freeway from the southbound 710 was closed for an unknown duration.
