Fire Consumes Electric Vehicle After Landing Onto 134 Freeway From Overpass in Griffith Park

GRIFFITH PARK, LOS ANGELES, Mar. 4 (KNN) — An electric vehicle erupted into flames after landing onto the 134 Freeway from an overpass in the Griffith Park area around 11 p.m. Sunday

A vehicle that appeared to be a Tesla, crashed through metal fencing on Riverside Drive (sometimes referred to as Victory Boulevard) and landed onto the busy 134 Freeway below, striking the concrete center divider and catching fire.

The occupants of the vehicle were able to safely exit the car prior to arrival of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Two men in their 60s in serious but stable condition, were transported by paramedics to regional trauma centers, according to the LAFD. No other injuries were reported.

Firefighters remained at the scene to battle the stubborn flames of the electric vehicle that eventual burned itself out after about an hour.

The Los Angeles Police Department said speed was a factor in the crash.
