POMONA, Calif., Sept. 28 (KNN) — The Historical Society of Pomona Valley sustained damage when a fire erupted in the century-old building early Saturday morning.
Los Angeles County firefighters and Pomona police officers received multiple 911 calls regarding a building on fire shortly after 1 a.m. at the Historical Society of Pomona Valley, 585 East Holt Avenue in Pomona.
Once firefighters arrived at the scene, they located a two-story historic building with heavy smoke and fire showing. Due to the building’s age and construction, firefighters had difficulty extinguishing the flames. Firefighters also attempted to protect the artifacts inside the building, which represent the city of Pomona.
At the time of the fire, the Historical Society of Pomona Valley was closed. The LACoFD requested an arson investigator to respond to the location to assist the investigation.
Per the LACoFD, the historic building is 100-plus years old.
