Fire Destroys Garage, Vehicle, Room in Highland Home; Arson Suspected

HIGHLAND, Calif., July 26 (KNN) — Flames swept through a garage, engulfed one room inside a home and destroyed a vehicle Friday afternoon in the city of Highland within San Bernardino County.

At approximately 1:47 p.m., the San Bernardino County Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire located on Orange Knoll Avenue.

Upon arrival, a single-story garage as well as one room in the house were found fully involved in flames. However, firefighters were able to make the offensive call to dispatch fairly quickly. Forward progress was ultimately stopped.

As a result of the fire, the homeowner’s car was also consumed by flames and destroyed as well.

Per the battalion chief at the scene, arson may have played a role in the start of this fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
