HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES, Jan. 17 (KNN) — Two people were seriously injured in a greater alarm Hollywood house fire overnight and a firefighter was burned when a flashover occurred.
Los Angeles Fire Department crews were dispatched at 3 a.m. to reported smoke in the area of the 1300 block of North Cherokee Avenue where firefighters found a one-story single-family home with fire showing.
While attacking the flames, firefighters found two people trapped behind a security gate inside the structure, reported the LAFD. Forcible entry tools were used to access the area to rescue two adult males who were both transported to a local hospital. One patient was critical, and the other in grave condition, according to the LAFD.
During the rescue, the fire continued to grow rapidly. After the rescue, firefighters resumed attacking the blaze and while inside the home, a flashover occurred, reported the LAFD. One firefighter was found to have burns on their ears, but all four members of the crew were transported for observation at the hospital.
The LAFD reported the fire was extinguished in 31 minutes with a total of 48 firefighters at the scene.
