The Chandler Fire Department responded to the 2800 South block of Camellia Drive shortly before 1:00 a.m. for reports of a house fire.

When fire crews arrived, they found a single-story house with an active fire showing through the roof. Crews established several hand lines and began attacking the fire.

Due to the size of the fire, firefighters switched to a defensive position and began fighting the fire from the exterior.

The fire was balanced to a first-alarm working fire with additional resources from Chandler Fire and Mesa Fire responding.

At one point, a large portion of the roof collapsed. Firefighters positioned a ladder truck and deployed an elevated master stream above the fire.

Preliminary information indicates that no one was injured in the fire.

Investigators were on the scene working to determine the cause of the fire.
