Firefighters Battle Flames Consuming Scrap Yard in Los Angeles

CENTRAL-ALAMEDA, LOS ANGELES, Mar. 3 (KNN) — Heavy equipment and a pile of scrap cars caught fire in the Central-Alameda neighborhood of Los Angeles late Sunday evening.

Fire crews from the Los Angeles Fire Department were dispatched to the 1600 block of South Staunton Avenue, near the intersection of East Washington Boulevard and Staunton Avenue, at 10:05 p.m. to battle the blaze.

Fire crews continued to work to extinguish the flames as more units arrived.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
