Firefighters Extinguish Structure Fire, Locate Cannabis Grow Operation

Downtown Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA: A cannabis grow operation was located by firefighters inside a building at the scene of a fire early Saturday morning as well as a person on the roof.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire around 1:22 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, on the 1100 block of South Santa Fe Avenue in Downtown Los Angeles.

When crews arrived on scene, they found an outside fire that had extended into a commercial building with fire through the roof. A person was seen on the roof and was rescued by LAFD personnel, but did not require medical attention.

A cannabis grow operation was located inside the structure once the fire was knocked down.

LAFD Hazmat was requested to assess potential hazards. The Los Angeles Police Department was also requested at the scene.
